NRB Bank re-elects chairman
Mohammed Mahtabur Rahman has recently been re-elected chairman of NRB Bank.
After completing his education, Rahman pursued a career in his family-owned business which was established in Makkah, Saudi Arabia in 1970, according to a statement yesterday.
He is currently the chairman and managing director of Al Haramain Perfumes Group of Companies. He is the founder president of Bangladesh Business Council in Dubai and the NRB CIP Association in Bangladesh.

The declaration came at the 6th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of NRB Bank Limited was held at The Westin, Dhaka on Sunday, said a press release.

NRB Bank Limited was established to play significant role in economic activities of the NRB Bank Limited was established to play significant role in economic activities of the country by attracting NRBs to invest in Bangladesh and for Bangladeshi individuals and corporate to get access to the international market.
Facing stiff competition, we, as a compliant financial institution, are progressing slowly but steadily. However, we are yet to bring significant investment from abroad or open the passage for local entrepreneurs to invest abroad as these need some regulatory requirements. Side by side, standing on strong footing as a financial institution, we are on the process of opening international market access, both for inward remittance and inward/outward local/foreign investment. Meanwhile, we established Foreign Remittance Department in the Bank with necessary expertise. We hope we shall be able to succeed in attaining our objectives shortly.

NRB Bank re-elects Rahman as chair
Mohammed Mahtabur Rahman has been re-elected chairman of the board of directors of NRB Bank Limited for the next 3 years, the bank said in a press statement yesterday.
Rahman is the chairman and managing director of Al Haramain Perfumes Group of Companies. He is the founder president of Bangladesh Business Council in Dubai and also the sponsor of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Bangladesh Islamia (Pvt) School in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
Rahman is also the chairman of Al Haramain Tea Co Ltd and Al Haramain Hospital Pvt Ltd in Bangladesh. He is also the trustee of University of Asia Pacific and Beani Bazar Cancer Hospital in Bangladesh.
Mahtabur Rahman was ranked the top Commercially Important Person (CIP) for the 4 consecutive years, added the statement.

Mohammed Mahtabur Rahman has recently been re-elected as chairman of NRB Bank for next three years, said the bank in a statement yesterday.
He is also chairman and managing director of Al Haramain Perfumes Group of Companies.
Rahman is founder president of the Bangladesh Business Council in Dubai and sponsor of Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Bangladesh Islamia (Pvt) School in Abu Dhabi, the UAE. Rahman was selected as commercially important person for four consecutive years from 2012-13 to 2015-16 and was awarded the “Bangladesh Bank Remittance Award” for three consecutive years from 2013 to 2015

Bangladeshi expatriates launch three banks to tap wealth of non-resident Bangladeshis
Expatriates-linked products and service delivery will be key to success
Dubai: Wealthy Bangladeshi expatriates have launched two banks out of the three permitted in Bangladesh so far – to tap the growing wealth of more than 8 million non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) living outside their country.
Of the three permitted by Bangladesh Bank, the country’s central bank, two have already started commercial operation. NRB Commercial Bank was launched on April 1, while NRB Bank opened commercial operations on May 28 this year.

Two expatriate Al-Arafah Islami Bank clients get BB Remittance Award
Bangladesh Bank Deputy Governor SK Sur Chowdhury, handing over "Bangladesh Prominent expatriate businessmen Mohammed Mahtabur Rahman and his son Mohammed Emadur Rahman have received Bangladesh Bank’s ‘Remittance Award 2013’ for sending remittance to the country through banking channel, a press release said Monday. Mohammed Mahtabur Rahman received the award as second highest remitter and Mohammed Emadur Rahman received his award as eighth highest remitter.

Non-resident Bangladeshis who have been given commercially important person (CIP) status have sought protection for their investment and a harassment-free environment.
They made the demand at a function organised in Dhaka on Thursday to award the CIP status to 10 highest foreign exchange-remittance senders and one top Bangladeshi product-importing non-resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) for 2013. Those who got CIP cards in forex remitting category are Mohammad Mahtabur Rahman, Abul Kalam and Muhammad Abul Kalam from the United Arab Emirates, Mohammad Ali Talukder and Mohammad Adnan Imam from the United Kingdom, Mohammad Shamsul Alam, Mohammad Rafiqul Islam Bhuiyan and Abdul Aziz Khan from Qatar and Abul Kalam Azad and Kazi Safiqul Islam from Oman.
